Then there's the other option, not mentioned; that it's yet another UAP grift, make lots of exciting noises about investigation, mythologise furiously, get investors to cough up, then let everything evaporate in a fog of obscurity while intimating that it all might have gone secret because UAP, having lived very nicely off the cash for a few years. We repeatedly see this kind of thing - it could be argued that "From the Stars" was another example - the UFO/UAP space, and indeed much of the Fortean investigation area is full of people making huge noises about "we're going to" or "we're on the verge of..." and getting loads of publicity, followed by.... nothing. No one finds the bigfoot, nails evidence for extraterrestrials, discovers the Nazi gold train, etc etc. I almost never run stories like this, I just wait for the announcement of the actual results, and, surprise, surprise, never hear from the teams again. I take it that any announcement of this kind is evidence that they know they aren't going to get anywhere so are milking the story for publicity before having to admit failure. Harsh, I know, but over 30 years of experience has not proved me wrong

Maybe the shutdown had to do with testing electronic warfare tech. Which caused a civilian plan crash in that area last May:
